Ceramic Trompe L’oeil Archive

Each sculpture is a one-of-a-kind artwork, and most can be commissioned and created in a similar fashion to suit your art collection. Below are some unique designs from over the years. To arrange a special commission for your collection, please contact me at 919-590-5708 or [email protected].

Teapots

Yixing China is the birthplace of the teapot and in the 1600s makers began carving them to look like trees, pumpkins and gourds to integrate nature into the tea ceremony. Throughout my artistic career I’ve honored the history of ceramic trompe l’oeil by using the teapot as a launching point for many of my sculptures. I have always aimed to blur the line between art and craft by using a traditionally utilitarian material to create sculptural forms with hints to function.
